I went on an impromptu lil' holiday to paradise - Nusa Lembongan Island, Bali, Indonesia for a week - here's what I saw.
Ugh, I needed that.
Things were starting to feel dark, cold, grim and overwhelming - kinda like Melbourne Winter. I feel so lucky that my best friend’s sister works for Qantas and has generously put me on her family staff travel list so I can afford to travel. Otherwise, none of this would be possible.
But at 4am, we (me and my bestie) decided to go see if there were any free seats left on a flight going anywhere warm and South East Asia-ey. 2 available last-minute seats on a bogan missle to Bali and so we spent a week in warm, tropical paradise.
We got out of Bali / Kuta immediately and went to Lembongan Island - a total paradise with many less tourists and Aussies (moistly Russian, German and French families and influencers) and beaches so warm you can pull fully-cooked lobsters out of the water (jokes).
Best photography gig for the month:
Clearly my holiday. I mean, there were lots of great things I saw and photographed in the past month, but shooting for myself and having a little recharge - how could I top that? I hope you enjoy a few of my holiday snaps below:

What I’m listening to:
Listened to the entirety of Lana Del Rey’s discography on the flights to and from Indonesia and realized I need to do something about my depression.
What I’m watching:
It’s been absolutely so great just looking at different scenery on this little break. Circuit-breaking my brain from the sameness from what has become in the last 6 months my regular life / view. Looking out at sunsets, frangipani flowers, jungle-topped mountains and clear blue skies.
No TV shows or movies - but I did join MUBI so my plan is to get back into watching more arthouse again (my ex hated arthouse films or anything I liked, actually.)
What I’m drinking:
I said I was going to slow down drinking in July but then I went to Bali where cosmopolitans are $7 and 2-4-1 so I lied I guess (?)
Whats on:
Ok, so I’m back from a little break in the tropics and there is HEAPS happening.
Remember - this Saturday 19th of July I still have some available spots on my Victoria St. Richmond Photo Walk. Tickets are by donation and it will be a really great afternoon. Plus we are going to have post-walk networking drinks at The Leady after and then head over to The Laird that evening for Bruno Disco.
What’s coming up?
VERY excited to be photographing the opening night event of “WERK” at ACCA this Friday night and then following that up by heading to TroughX SCREW - it’s going to be a BIG GAY evening.
